Positive Vibes Festival

Positive Vibes Festival celebrates the best of Bequia’s culture and talent, bringing together local legends, emerging musicians and first-time performers, dancers, drummers and poets. The annual Festival since its inception in 2016, has been supported by community businesses and is the first of its kind to coach, nurture and present raw Bequia talent.

2023

With 28 acts by 46 local performers, the 5th Annual Positive Vibes Festival was bursting with the sheer amount of talent that exists on Bequia! Singers, dancers, drummers and other musicians – from professionals to first-time performers – took the stage on Saturday, February 25th at De Reef. We are beyond grateful that this yearly Festival (which first began in 2016) manifested into something bigger than ever - with over 500 festival attendees.

The powerful music of the Exotic Sounds Steel Orchestra opened the evening, followed by a number of singing, dancing and drumming acts throughout the night. First time performers such as 10-year-old Akira Ragguette and 15-year-old Blessing Pierre, as well as popular artistes like Devaney, Prime, Abu Zanimah and Colin “Minkah” Peters impressed the large and supportive crowd of well over 500 festival attendees!

Aliyah Ollivierre’s melodic voice paired perfectly with Naja Corbett’s talented 🎹 keyboard skills. DraKing, the Hub Music Studio Intern and Creative Assistant, performed his first-ever single “Champion” as an ode to the next generation of singers. Calypso legend J Gool stuck to his roots with his hit song “Man Just Arriving”, and we had 7-year-old Jalon as our youngest singer of the evening! 🎤

Other acts included the Rose Hall Drummers, Judith Jackson, Tyra Hazell, Azalina Bailey, Kaila Duncan, D’Yonté Telemaque, Enoch Ragguette, Kimani Cuffy, Theo Campbell, and our young dancers ‘Rising Stars’. Each act was unique and special in its own way. 🎶🎵 It was pure positive vibes at the Positive Vibes Festival — that much is certain!

To see the raw talent from Bequia develop into something extraordinary and powerful is what we continue to believe in at The Hub.

A huge shoutout to our performers, volunteers, organisers, sponsors and all others for putting on a fantastic festival! And thank you to everyone for showing your support to our annual festival and nonprofit organisation.
